PRACTICE CONCENTRATION & EDUCATION
At Vance & Whitley, Rebecca Carrillo's focus is family law, including divorce, adoption, and child custody issues. Mrs. Carrillo also has experience in criminal and appellate law.
Throughout law school at St. Mary's University, Mrs. Carrillo worked in wide array of legal fields which expanded and diversified her knowledge of the law. In 2009, Mrs. Carrillo worked at the U.S. Attorneys' Office as a volunteer legal intern, where she focused on issues regarding bankruptcy, immigration, and property law. From 2007 to 2009, she served as a research assistant to Dean Bill Piatt, where she analyzed and researched immigration and family law issues and assisted in the production of numerous publications. In the summer of 2008, Mrs. Carrillo served as a judicial intern for the Texas Thirteenth Court of Appeals, where she researched legal issues in criminal cases on appeal and drafted memoranda for the judge's consideration. From 2007 to 2008, Mrs. Carrillo served as a student attorney and later as a research assistant at the Immigration and Human Rights Clinic at St. Mary's University. In these positions, Mrs. Carrillo represented clients in deportation proceedings and managed all aspects of their representation including drafting motions, interviewing witnesses, conducting depositions, filing visas applications, and presenting oral arguments to the San Antonio Immigration Court.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
From 2008-2009, Mrs. Carrillo served as a staff writer for The Scholar: St. Mary's Law Review on Minority Issues and received an award designating her as an outstanding writer. Also in that year, Mrs. Carrillo served as the Magister for the honors legal fraternity, Phi Delta Phi-Tarlton Inn. Throughout law school, Mrs. Carrillo participated in moot court competitions and received awards for her speaking abilities.
While at Texas A&M University, Ms, Carrillo received numerous awards for her leadership skills. In 2004, Mrs. Carrillo was appointed to serve on the Brown-Earl Rudder Committee by Vice President of Texas A&M, Dr. Bresciani and President of Texas A&M, Robert Gates. In 2003, Mrs. Carrillo served as a student ambassador to China with the National Youth Leadership Forum.
EDUCATION & LICENSURE
Rebecca Carrillo graduated in 2006 from the Texas A&M University with a double major in Political Science and Sociology. Mrs. Carrillo received her JD and joined Vance & Whitley, L.L.P. in 2009.
